A short history of Saint Patrick and the Irish holiday |
The history of Saint Patrick's day, which began as a holy day "Irish Catholic" on the 10th or 11th century, goes all the way back to the late 13th century, when a small boy was born in England on behalf of Roman Moen.
Moen and his family live in a small town where his father was a soldier in the army, and a member of his Government. Some accounts say that Moen atheist and some say that his family was Christian, but not so strong in their faith. Either way, it doesn't really matter because it was what happened later in his life his notoriety gained by him.
When Moen was only 16, there was a RAID on the village of Ireland, in the Irish Sea. They carried off Moen and many villagers and took them back to Ireland as servants and slaves of the local Irish.
Hence reportedly Moen accept God, and began to speak to him in captivity. In fact, legend has it that he often spoke to God in prayer up to a hundred times a day. Moen was under the authority of the Celtic family, Celtic languages and learned how to speak it fluently. Six years later, when he was 22, Moen fled from his slavery, and ran into France. There he joined the Abbey under the auspices of the Bishop of France, and studied the Bible. This was a Bishop who gave him the name Patrick. Legend has it that while Patrick is here at the monastery, he heard the angels call for him to return to Ireland.
After spending 12 years in the study of Theology and Catholic laws, "that he left and went to Ireland to preach to the pagan nation. He spent 30 years on the job, my Bible and preaching across the land. Won turn many more people healed, so he was told some people raised from the dead. Everywhere he went he said God, and built many schools and churches to help promote the Catholic religion. Legend has it that angels followed him everywhere, even told him where and how that goes.
After 30 years of missionary work, he died on 17 March. This is the day that has gone down in history as the St Patrick's day, patron saint of Ireland.
